Isabi!!

This is my new kitty Isabi!! In Bemba it means Fish!! I wanted to name him something in Bemba, so Tori looked through her Bemba book and saw Isabi and it just fit! Helen brought him Friday afternoon. When I first walked in the room he was so scared. He just kept hissing. I was a little worried that he would never warm up to me. But after an hour or so he finally came out and started playing. Helen spent the night which helped too because he heard her familiar voice. He has a lot of energy and likes to play with just about everything!! At Helen's house he had 3 other cats to play with so I think it might be a little boring for him. Although I think he is managing just fine!
This weekend was great. On Friday night i went to the Hafler's house for dinner because they have a visitor that just arrived. Saturday I attended the Ladies Bible Study and also the Teen's Bible Study. There was a visitor at the teens Bible study and he came to know Christ as his Savior!!! It was so awesome to see God answer prayer!! We went up to the field after and played volleyball, and then I went to babysit for one of the missionary families. Sunday night after church we had a birthday party for our friend Esther!! Overall, it was a great weekend!!

Zambia's Independence Day Picnic

24 October is Zambia's Independence day. The young adults from Faith and the CBU students decided to have a picnic to celebrate the holiday, and they invited me to attend!! After manuevering the huge bus down the narrow path we made it to our destination. There were a couple of small waterfalls and the rest of the area around was bush. While walking around I saw a chameleon! We played a couple of games, ate, walked around and spent some time being challenged from God's Word. Pastor Saidi came along and shared with us from Matthew 16.26 which reads "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" It was a good reminder to be investing in eternity, and not in the world. The day was so fun! There was great food and great fellowship!!

Bible Study

Last Saturday night, Bill and Sue Knipe came over along with 3 CBU students. Two of the students are possibly unsaved and so Tori set this up so that they could ask questions and Bill could be there to answer. We played a game first and then we had tacos for dinner! Then Beene, my friend from the church, broke open this fruit. I can't spell the name of it but it looks like monkey brains!! It is mainly seeds with a little fruit on the outside of it. It has sort of a bitter citrus taste to it!! I wasn't so sure about it by the looks of it but it really didn't taste bad at all. After dinner Bill pulled out his Bible and started asking some Bible questions like, Can you lose your salvation?, What does the Bible say about tongues?. . . There was really good discussion on all the topics. Many people here in Zambia go to church, so they "know" a lot about Jesus and Bible stories but they are not truly saved. Raymond that was there is a Seventh-day Adventist and he knows much about the Bible but he doesn't seem to be saved yet. Please pray for him that he would see the truth.

Lizards and Snakes

I was baking muffins the other night and a little friend decided to join me. It was a cute little lizard!! They are so small and this one seems to live in our kitchen. Which is fine because he is so small and cute! I took a picture of him next to my water bottle so you could see just how small he really is!

Then the next morning i went to get something out of the fridge. I heard something move next to it and i saw this tail quickly dissappear under the fridge!! Well of course i wasn't about to do anything, i thought that the house help would take care of it if it was really necessary!! But when i returned home from work i walked in the kitchen and a big lizard was just sitting in the middle of the floor!! but it quickly ran under the fridge once i came in the kitchen!! and then that same night i came to brush my teeth (because of the filtered water) and there was another lizard in the kitchen!! but this one wasn't quite as big as the one under the fridge and he was eating the flies so i left him alone!! I told Tori about it and she said that the big one has been coming and going for some time, and the baby one has actually been there since i came, i just finally got around to taking a picture!
ok, and one last story. only something like this would happen in Africa!! I was talking with Phil after church when his daughter came running and told him that their dog had found a snake in the yard and she needed him to come kill it before someone got bit!! I was just glad it wasn't at my house!!

Update from Zambia!!

Hello!!!

As of today I have been in Zambia for a full month!! Its amazing how the times goes by so fast! God has taught me so many things and showed me so many areas in my life that I need to change!

Since I have been here I have been attending the Ladies Bible Study on Saturday mornings. It has been a big encouragement to me to study the different topics with these ladies. Its also been great getting to know them. Last Saturday night we had a progressive dinner with them, it was so fun! I am also attending the Young Adults Bible Study on Friday nights. It has been a huge blessing to me. The Bible study is lead by one of the missionaries but for the past 4 weeks he has asked different students at the Bible college to share with us. Every week God has taught me something! It is has been really encouraging! We also meet beforehand and play volleyball, and thats always fun!!

I have been busy working at the Bible College preparing for our Leadership Conference in December. There is a lot of planning and organizing involved. I have also been helping get the textbooks and things set up for next semester. It is a little harder to order books and things knowing that they arrive months down the road! It just means we have to plan early! The work with TRACS is coming along. Lots of little details to work out. Please pray that we get everything in order before December when the TRACS representative comes to look at the college! Those are the major things I have been working on, but also we are looking into getting our library started. There is a container coming with over 5,000 books on it, and I get to help set it up. I will admit it seems a little overwhelming at times, but I know God will give me wisdom and I will make it through! Please pray that God will give me wisdom in setting this up along with the other files and records for the college!

Also, please be in prayer for the construction of the Bible College. As of right now we are meeting in a rented facility and the offices are located at the church. Our desire is to be in the new building by the start of next semester, which is February. The ground floor is completed but we are in need of money to start on the next floor. Please pray that the money would come in before the rainy season so we can complete the building!

Thank you so much for your prayers, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate them!!!
